Welcome to the Felipe Angeles Project
The Felipe Angeles Project is an independent scholarly research effort whose goal is to learn more about the life of General Felipe Angeles, one of the foremost figures in the Mexican Revolution.

Felipe Angeles was born in Zacualtipán,Mexico in 1868. He was a distinguished graduate of the Mexican Military College at Chapultepec, and later became its director under the presidency of Francisco I. Madero. He joined the Revolution after Madero's assassination and would become Pancho Villa's artillery commander and supreme tactician. General Angeles was responsible for planning the villista victories at Zacatecas and Ramos Arizpe and other significant battles.
  • After a period in exile in the United States, Felipe Angeles returned to Mexico at the end of 1918 with the goal of uniting the various rebel factions fighting against the forces of President Venustiano Carranza. Unfortunately, he was betrayed in the mountains of Chihuahua and was captured. Carranza ordered him to be tried by a military tribunal, after which, he was executed by a firing squad on November 26, 1919.

-His commission to the United States to study Hudson Maxim's new smokeless gunpowder(1904).
-His early publications and his 1908 arrest.
    -His Friendship with President Madero.
-His exile in the United States 1915-1918, including his dairy ranch near El Paso, his revolutionary contacts, including Manuel Calero and the Alianza Liberal Mexicana, and his purported employment as a munitions inspector by the French government in New York City during World War One.
